Beast of burden

By accident I saw this hyper realist portrait of Keith Richards by German artist Sebastian Krüger. It made me think that—for someone who looks like death warmed over—he is worth of some envy. He was born in 1943, but has lived most of his life in dog-years, so in reality he is about 180 years old. He is a family man and a good husband. Who would have thunk it. In an April 2007 interview he was asked what the strangest thing he ever snorted was. He replied: "My father. I snorted my father. He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared ... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."
